The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed that a cyclospora outbreak now spans nine states across the Midwest and Eastern regions. According to CNBC, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania represent newly linked cases, joining previously affected states including Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and Michigan, where the outbreak has been particularly severe.

The multistate outbreak underscores ongoing food safety concerns and highlights the CDC's continued epidemiological investigation into the source of the contamination. Health authorities are working to identify common exposure points and determine the scope of the public health threat as additional cases continue to emerge.
